I have a wild geranium that volunteered, though it may have come with nodding onion that I bought at a Native plant sale. Your photo reminds me of it though I can't see the details clearly.

That is exactly what it is, applestar! Not knowing what it is has been an annoyance to us too. My daughter went outside this afternoon to get a better look at the leaves to better describe it and she just said they match perfectly to the wild geranium in the pics you provided.
I wanted to know what it was so I could learn if it can be divided like a hosta. It has grown considerably large and is taking over our small garden. It's nearly tripled in size in just two years. And it's in an odd place, in the front corner.
I can finally do something with it now that I know what it is. Thank you, applestar.
