I would like to move a couple of grape vines that are growing on an eyesore of a makeshift trellis to along my back fence. I am not sure which variety they are as we are new owners of the house and property. I am writing from Montreal and spring is just arriving; would soon be a good time to transplant? And is there anything specifics I should know before attempting this?
Thank you.

Hi Garden Novice,
Congratulations on your new home and welcome to The Helpful Gardener. Grapes don't usually transplant well so it might be best to take cuttings and start them over. Here's some info on grapes that should be helpful.
