The good thing of living in a tropical place

The good thing of living in a tropical place is that you can have flowers the whole year….

Sorry for the bad quality, I took these photos with an iPod

A rose starting to bloom, I planted like 1-2 months ago and it has grown very fast. It has lots of flower buds.

Dahlia … I bought 45 great quality tubers for $10 and I think the shipping was $8… Gotta love Ebay. My other Dahlias are still growing, no flowers yet, but they have lots of buds.

Heliotrope growing among the sweet alyssums. I cannot wait for them to bloom I've read they are very fragrant, I have like 6 of them growing in the garden.

You are right about the year long growing season for all sorts of gardening. I live in New Orleans and unless it freezes hard for a couple nights in a row, I'll have fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, tons of salad greens, etc. for Christmas dinner.

However, that still doesn't make it nice in the summer with the heat and humidity of our tropical climate. That is when my garden, and I, suffer the most.

Same here .. summer is stressing for my plants and for me 'cause I hate to go outside when it is too hot.

I do envy you folk who can grow such wonderful produce and fruits through out the year....but....I still like the winter months over here. Just to look out the window and see the garden covoured in a blanket of snow and not feel guilty that I'm not out there doing something.
gg.

:D
