I have a two-year old plane tree grown from a seed. About a week ago I noticed that some leaves were withering. Since then this process has been progressing pretty rapidly and now almost all leaves are dry. I'm not sure whether it is dangerous or not, so I would appreciate any help. I hope photos that I attached will be helpful in identifying the problem.

Your tree should be in at least a 5-gallon container. Anything smaller will strangle the root system. Plane trees are big when mature. They must have a chance to develop a large root system that will support such a large tree. If you can't transplant it into a 5-gallon container, then prune its roots and top growth, and put it back in its current container.

Thank you very much. I forgot to mention that the last month it was extremely hot - something around 45-47 degrees. Can this withering be caused by such severe weather conditions (it is much better now). The tree is kept on the balcony, where the temperature is the same as outside. I've recently noticed that many new sprouts started to grow from the buds. So maybe it will recover somehow. What kind of soil would you suggest for replanting?

Hey Rabid,
Do me a favor and please update your profile with a different email address. You are signed up to be notified of responses to this discussion but you will not receive them because the email address you signed up with is not available. So what is happening is that everytime the forum emails you, the email bounces back and is returned to clutter my email inbox. This is inconvenient. So please update your email address.
Thanks,
R
