Yes. James has a very large garden and I too envy him for the space he has and how much he gets it to produce.

As for your question on broccoli, you get one main head per plant, the largest. Then you should get many side shoots coming in that get smaller as the season progresses. My broccoli plants last year produced the main head and about 20 or so side shoots before I pulled them.

You can also eat the leaves and more tender stems of the broccoli plants if you choose to.

I'll take two dozen ears of corn please....that looks GOOD. As always a great job Jal and beautiful pictures. Today I hope to past some pictures of my onion that started with the bulbs you sent me. We have enjoyed them and they seem to be ok with the drop in altitude and rise in humidity.

The onions are Yellow Spanish Utah onions. I have some Big Daddy onions that are still growing. It is going to be interesting to see how large they will get. I am hoping for some 3 pounders.

Broccoli gives one main head, then some side shoots. The variety that I have that is giving me the bucketfuls is Packman. It was spring planted from seed and has been yielding all summer. What a great variety. I had another variety and it gave a first head then quit. We had a little cooler season this year, and I think it helped the broccoli.

One day, if I ever get out of this duplex and have a yard that can handle it I will have a garden like yours!!! Ok, maybe not that big, but bigger than I have now!!!

A note on the Elephant garlic: I wanted to do a trial to see if clipping the flower off made any difference in the size of the bulb. In my picture, the 7 bulbs on the right are those that I did not clip the flower. The 7 on the left are those that I did clip the flower when it first started to show. You decide.

Wow. The photo of the corn is making me hungry. Here's a question: How big a strawberry bed did you need to get all of those strawberries? What kind are they? What year?

James, You say left and right. It looks to me to be top and bottom. The bottom row looks slightly larger. Any concern on the loose wrappers? Is this common with elephant garlic?
No, there is a space down through the middle leaving left and right group. My wife pointed out that perhaps the individual cloves were larger in the group that had the blossoms picked off. I did not weigh these, but just looking at them I could not see much difference is size or bulk.

The loose wrappers are because I left it in the ground too long. Not a worry with the elephant garlic. The individual cloves are wrapped tightly and will keep all winter just fine.

I have two strawberry beds One is 8 feet by 20 feet and is in its 5th year.
The other is 8 by 10 and is in its second year. The plants are everbearing. I don't remember the variety name. I was going to plow up the older bed, but it is still producing so I hesitate.

My garden is about done. Maybe get a few more summer squash if it doesn't freeze right away. I still have to dig the potatoes. The broccoli may put out some more side shoots. That broccoli has sure been good this year. Best ever.
I am going on vacation. Guess the garden will tend itself for a while?

Don't know if I will be checking in from down the road somewhere or not. Have a great harvest!

Went out to the garden today with a couple of buckets. Found some
jalapenos, tomatillos, tomatoes, and a couple of bell peppers. I had plenty of onions, so it was time for some fresh salsa. Yummy.

I only used a few of the hot peppers, still have a gallon bucket full of them. I don't need any dry as have plenty from last year. Anyone want some jalapenos?

My son came over and we picked 5 bushel of apples, and a bushel of plums. Still loads of apples and plums. Drop in and get some.

We are very blessed again this season. Hope you all had a good season too.
