Moving a Hydrangea

I have a plant that has always been under a large live oak tree. It has a couple of small blooms each year - I suspect it's not getting enough sun and unable to get enough water since it's having to compete with the tree. I'd like to move it but don't know when the best time to do this would be. Now? In the early spring before it starts growing again? Also, how much sun will it be able to tolerate?

Move it now, but I wouldn't go full sun in your area; partial shade would be better (Sun in the morn or the afternoon, but not the middle of the day...)

Can you please help me out? A friend just gave me a Hydrangea plant. We are in Louisiville. Can you please help in 1. where should I plant it? 2. What and how often to feed it. Pretty much I know nothing about them but definitely do not want to kill it.

Llike organic fertilizers and hydrangeas like acid, so I'd probably use Holly-Tone, once in spring, once in summer...
