What to do about suckers

I've never had fruit trees but, I have a patio nectarine that after 6weeks after purchase has lots of suckers at the base. It does have some new growth to the top but not like the suckers. Do I remove them? any advice would welcome.. :? Happy gardening

yeah, remove them. it'll help encourage the top to grow more.
