Tips on the Variegated Umbrella Tree

Hi I'm new to gardening and was given a new plant for xmas. The tag calls it a Brassaia arboricola 'variegata'. My only other plant is a jade plant and I was easily able to find directions for care of it on the internet. I did the same search for my new plant and couldn't find as much info. Anyway my questions are:
How often do I give it water?
What kind of sun do I give it? Currently it sits next to my jade getting morning sun.
Thanks for helping me not kill my new plant...

Hi Happyjade,

You may be having trouble finding info as there are two different botanical names for your tree. Schefflera arboricola 'variegata' is another name it's known by as well as Hawaiian Schefflera or dwarf Schefflera. Here's some helpful info.

I water mine when the top 2" of soil is dry.
