planting lillies

We got a lilly plant in a pot with two stalks and three or four flowers.I want to plant them in the garden.Should I wait for the fall or, can I plant them now? Can I propagate them by shaking the stamin onto the flowers?

Planting now is a good idea; as for propagating you are better served by waiting for scales to off set the bulbs. Patience, patience...
