Bush Identity and Dying cause

Hello,
New to the site and new homeowner. I am trying to identify these bushes in my yard and wondering what is the problem with them. Some of them have a large amount of branches dying. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

I understand that you're concerned for your plants. However, several of the photos appear to be sideways and/or duplicate the others.

Is it possible to take close-ups of branches/leaves where the disease/dying process is taking place? For instance, if the bark is flaking off more in one area than another, a close-up of the flaking-off bark would help.

Also, take a look at the wood beneath any loose bark. Are there pinpoint holes in it? Is there sap coming out from crotches in the branches? If so, take a close-up of one of those locations.

We may not be able to diagnose, but these kinds of photos will improve the odds of it.

Your plants look like arborvitae and the spots could be snow damage plus have you ever trimmed them since they could be suffering because they are planted so close together. It is a problem with arborvitae because of their branch structure which is why I don't like them because there is nothing you can do once blank spaces start showing up. Pruning might be the only answer but the odds are the blank spaces will never fill in.
