Germinating Pterocarpus Marsupium pods [Indian Kino Tree]

This is for a project for my environmental science class, if we are able to grow these trees then it's an automatic A, I know nothing about gardening or how I should even start with these pods, do I boil them to loosen them up to get to the seeds? How about the region, I'm in Southern Cali will they even grow here? I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me, thank you!

Hi Arisafari,

I don't know where you got the seed pod or how you have searched, but I'm not finding much info on how to germinate these seeds on the internet. I did a google with:
Pterocarpus Marsupium + germinate
and did find books referenced that might have the info you need. You could also try searching with:
Pterocarpus Marsupium + propogate

This site has some info that I can't view as I have cookies blocked.
https://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1744-7429.1997.tb00428.x

I'm including the cached versions of these sites so you can better see where to look for the info. This first site is a book you might be able to find at a university library.

This site lists your tree but the links aren't working. Maybe you could contact them. You'll have to scroll down for Pterocarpus Marsupium.
https://www.bioone.org/perlserv/?request=get-keyword-index&issn=1054-5476&volume=40

At this site these folks say they sell the seeds and have info on germination, etc. You might want to contact them to see if they will share the info you need.

Good luck,

If you have a seed pot, definately DO NOT boil it as the heat from the water will most likely denature any proteins contained within the seeds.

Just fill some small pots with soil and plant the seeds. Keep them well watered and hope for the best.
