Been gardening for about 4 years now and the gardening bug has definitely hit me after the first year.
This year we have expanded our inside starting and garden areas quite a bit.
We have an indoor greenhouse going for seed starting. 4 (72) trays are under way with domes and heating mats.
Last year I guessed, but this year I would like to know the proper answers to:
We take off the heating mats after the seeds have mostly germinated and the seedlings pop through and we dome with vents until we get about 1-2 inches in height.
We had not bad results the past two years doing this.
I guess the question is - when should the heating pad come off? And how long do you guys keep them domed?
After we remove the domes we usually put a small fan in the greenhouse on low to get some air flowing and harden up the stems a bit. We usually wait till they get big enough to transplant once..... then see if the frost outside is done, and start hardening up the plants outside here and there before they get fully transplanted into the garden.
So domes and heating mats - whats the proper way - if we aren't doing it right.
