I can't figure out what forum this belongs in...?
heneyways, does anyone grow wheat? or any other grains for that matter? how much space do I need to grow it and all that jazz?
On the contrary. Do the research. You want poor soil, and no nitrogen added. Nitrogen causes the wheat to fail.
Funny thing about the oils in wheat, they won't go rancid until the wheat is ground. Fresh ground whole wheat is best kept in the refrigerator. The oils in wheat will go rancid so store in a cool dry place.
Of course it is going to take some effort. We have another one that is harder to turn. It doesn't take long to crank out a cupful for cracked wheat cereal. I have not actually timed it. We saw this one on display at a local store and they had wheat there you could grind. It was so much easier to turn than the one we had, so we bought it.Does it work well, or is it one that you need muscles to operate?
