How long are the videos? Sell us a little bit on why we should watch? :)

He's the author of Gaia's Garden which is kind of controversial. Some people swear by it and some people hate it. The swear by it is kind of obvious; it was pretty revolutionary when it first came out and introduced the Gaia concept as well as permaculture, guilds, sustainability to a lot of people who had never heard of them.

But here's part of one review from Amazon

While Hemenway's ideas are intriguing, creating guilds specific to an area involves extensive research, which involves either observing plant communities in the wild or using books or university contacts. In addition, the author doesn't sufficiently explain how to incorporate the many sun-loving vegetables and flowers into guilds, which are often shade-oriented. Recommended only for botanical and academic libraries.

Here's a thread where someone pointed out a bunch of annoyances with Gaias Garden:

So, I'm just saying sell us a little! :)

Trust me it's a good lecture
This is a Quicktime movie and unlike YouTube etc. doesn't display run time -- there might be a way to find out, but I didn't see how. It's was a bit longish -- I think it's a full recording of a lecture that was held at the school -- but I don't remember how long. I remember I did pause and get up a couple of times.

He wants to define "sustainable" as being merely "middle of the ground," and urged that we try to do better than that. At one point, he demonstrated the length of human history compared to agriculture in civilized history. And that agriculture is detrimental whereas horticulture -- gardening a regenerative food forest is beneficial.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. You have a really good way of clarifying complex points.

Hi, I was concerned and have asked other mods to verify the links -- it seems to be harmless and no problems were found.

Because this video is in QuickTime format (.mov) file, it's possible your computer is unable to play it if you don't have QuickTime capable video player installed. Also, it maybe necessary to download the file to play and your security setting is setting off an alarm. Could the error messages be related to either of those scenarios?

If you have further problems, PM me and we can try to figure it out.

Whatever the issue is, is now gone.
I clicked it, I was going to list why it was blocked, but now it isn't blocked.
Alot of times the Google tool bar blocks pop ups and perhaps it didn't like the way it instantly turns on?

It looks like the video has been taken down. Makes sense considering TH was getting paid for the lecture. I was surprised the full lecture was even available to see at all.

For those of you who missed it, here's a summary:
