Ivy?

This is probably a noob question  (since I am one, there's no ofense) Is it OK to use an english ivy to start a bonsai?

Ivy can be used as a bonsai, I've had one. It was a small leaved variety. It had a wonderful trunk. It was in a small container for many years before I even noticed its charm.

Thanks Meesh, Mine has smallish leaves too. I started it from a larger plant and since it was in a small terrarium I kept cutting it back to fit, that got me thinking of it as a potential bonsai.

Any ideas as to what shape/style would suit it :?:

Cascade, semicascade, windswept...those would probably be most believable for an ivy.
