Canna Lily Bulbs

Does anyone know about planting Canna Lily Bulbs? I planted them the second week of April....and still nothing. How long does it take them to emerge? I have never planted them before. Their in part sun/shade, in decent soil, with a thin layer of mulch over top of them. Any tips?

They should take a couple weeks, but the soil was likely too chilly for them back in April (they are tropicals!), slowing them down.

The problem with planting them so early is that while they are sitting there waiting for warm weather, if they get too much rain/water, they can rot out.

I'd dig one up to see what is happening. If they are mushy, probably they are goners. If they are starting to sprout, you can just bury it back.

okay, thanks! makes sense! I'll check them out. how far under the soil should they actually be planted? I don't think I planted them to deep, but is it okay to have mulch on top too?
