Mystery Plant... what am I?

Hello all. Does anyone know what this plant is? I've had it for about 5 years, and it's grown a lot... only has had leaves, never flowered or produced anything else. I think it might lose it leaves over the winter, but I might have been almost killing it too, so not sure. The leaves seem to be in groups of 3 usually. I think that's about all I know.

I think this might be an Umbrella Tree. It looks very much like the shoots that emerge from the big one we cut down in our garden.

Hm... I don't think it's the umbrella tree... the leaves don't look-a-like..

I know what you mean. It's just that when they are small and emerging I find the leaves often look rounder, like the first photo. Later they get longer like the second photo.

Also, this plant is not in the best shape. It may need more warmth and bright filtered light to take on it's natural look.

The leaf stems also emerge in that unique pattern, which is the main thing that caught my attention.

Not certain though.

I was actually looking at the number of leaves.. like for example, bockyweez's plant has on each ('leaf stem', if I can call it like that) only 3 leaves. And the picture of the Umbrella tree, each stem has 8 leaves (did I count right?) - and that is the actual umbrella.
But bockyweez's plant makes umbrella not from the leaves, but from the stems of the leaves which grow perfectly around the stem of the tree, which makes it an umbrella.

What do you think?

I'm sorry I might not be able to explain perfectly what I really mean, as English is not my mother tongue...

It's never had more than 3 leaves on a stem that I remember. I'll be putting it outside for the summer soon... it likes being outside and gets many more stems with those leaves that shoot off the main stem. But during the late fall/winter last year, the leaves with those stems all fell off the main stem. You can kind of see where they were attached to the main stem in the 1st & 2nd pic. It also only produces new growth at the very top, and the stems go out more horizontally than how the umbrella tree looks like... those seem to go more vertically.
