What Gardeners do while we wait for the garden to grow.

Most gardeners do other things while they are waiting for the seed to sprout in their gardens or just wait for it to grow.

This is one thing our friends like to do while we wait. We love to ride four wheelers in the mountains of Arkansas and Colorado. We spent this past week riding in Arkansas in and near Wolf Pen Gap near Mena Arkansas. There are a couple of Master Gardeners in the group taking a vacation from gardening. I wish I could play the the guitar. Unfortunately, my musical abilities are limited to whistling while I work and humming like a hummingbird. My intent is good, but the results please no one but me.

I live in the woods, I have May Apples growing in the garden path!

I am a bit tired of hills, trees, and sites seen above. I like to go sit at the lake, or the Ocean and just enjoy. I would like to just sit beside Joyfirst on the beach, no guitar though, and just watch the fish play!

I wish you well in your quest to sit with Joyfirst on the beach and watch the fish play. We used to travel to Destin, Florida a lot for short vacations. We would walk the beach in the evening and the surf would be rolling in so loud we couldn't talk without yelling. The waves would crest at the beach at eye level. The water was crystal clear and you could for a short moment, watch the fish playing in the water. It was watching them in an aquarium in very short snapshots of each wave.

Your comment on May Apples was the second I've seen today about May Apples. I guess I've never seen one so I did some research. They apparently grow like weeds and produce a small fruit which is edible in limited amounts. Have you ever eaten one? How do they taste?

They are nasty! I have them in the garden path, and we just walked to find an area to plant some more plants and I looked down, in a field of May Apples.

You saw the photo of them above. Well they only come up to about your ankle, maybe calf? And they will bloom and set usually a single fruit. It is dry, it is bland and it has seeds. The only resemblance to an apple is when you cut one open, the way it is arranged looks like an apple.

They are edible, but, just not much reason to want to. Remind me to save you some seeds, these weeds grow like weeds, and then you can judge for yourself.

I helped my son move to Virginia Beach Virginia, and everyday, I loved to go to the beach and just sit and watch the boats, the fisherfolk, the crabs, and dolphins jumping. I enjoyed it, but after 2 months there, I was ready to see hills, trees, and my beautiful crystal clear water in the lakes! It would be nice to visit a beach, but wonderful to come home to my hills, and views! I wasn't impressed with swimming in the ocean, that is hard work. I would rather swim in the lake, but prefer the beaches of sand and all you can explore there for a relaxing evening.

Sorry no extravagant pics of what I do while waiting. I guess I could send a pic of me in front the PC with my legs kicked up and keyboard in my lap but that's not very exciting.

I will be going to Disney World in a few months does that count for pics?

Are you going to Disney World for you or for the kids? I don't need any extravagant photos. I only need one of you with the Mickey Mouse cap on with the ears and everything.

I used to belong to the Gulf Coast Mycological Society. I loved to go mushroom hunting. I had a great patch of Chanterelles in the forest near my home in East Texas. In North Texas, all we have is slime fungus and mold.

Amongst them are my saltwater aquarium, fishing, hiking, being outdoors and plant photography.

For a job I work in an office and work on computers all day!

Ted, that's the point to have any hobby, it is not to please others, it is to please yourself, and if others happen to enjoy it - that's okey, but that is not the most important thing. I am not a virtuoso, but I love love love playing, because while it is fun to listen to others who play well, nothing touches my heart in the same way, than when I play it myself.
So if you like it, do it. Take a class or just learn it on the utube - there are so many good lessons there with specific songs.

Oh yes, these are hobbies and work in one. I have a six year old, so it is much easier now, but I remember not dreaming for two years at night, because I would never get to sleep long enough stretch Yet, they are also the sweetest people in our lives, aren't they?

Sleep? what is that? he is 10 months old and we still get up at least 2 to 3 times a night.

They are worth double the trouble they actually are.

His eyes came out bright blue, and his mother and I both have brown eyes!

And as far as his Texas Rangers jersey, he was helping me in the garden, and got it dirty

I do a lot of random things. Sometimes we go on trips to zoos, theme parks, or to visit relatives. I like rappelling and sometimes I get my skateboard and practice at the ramps. I can hang out at a teen club (when theres a cool band), play video games, listen to music and other stuff. and sometimes I play soccer or dodge ball or go swimming. There's always something to do.

Keep Bees, play with the grandkids, go fishing, birdwatching, shooting, reload my own ammo, take pictures............. um, I ain't very busy.
