Apple tree - Found a Cocoon and Pest Question

OK so my apples are getting bigger and I'm getting excited, but I have one on each tree (a yellow delicious and granny smith) that have a hole bore into them. My husband has been ordered to pick those and demolish them in hopes of taking down the pest with it, but if other apples have little brown specks on them....is this normal or are they all going to have issues?

I also think I found a cocoon hanging on my Delicious tree. He's been ordered to destroy that too. Is it a hopeless season this year or might I still get good fruit? The other apples look good, except some are speckled.

Not sure if you get them there but codling moths are the main cause of apple boring in the UK.
