What happens when you leave apple seeds in a stratification bag too long?

You wet the paper towel, and gently pry off the apple babies. Plant them in soiless mix amended with bark mulch.

Orm start over.

How long was "too long"? And did you have it in the refrigerator? Crisper drawer? 8)

@applestar I would have to check the exact date I started the cold stratification in the fridge. I think it was sometime in Oct. So about 5 months?

Unlike chestnuts. Apple & crab apple like cold stratification out doors. Set up a wide pan with fast draining soil. Put a plank on top to keep critters out and let it rip in the snow and frost.

The seedling will wake up (here zone 6-A) in May.
