Anna Apples

Last fall I planted an Anna Apple tree only because that is all they sell in Arizona. Nothing else will make apples here. Not knowing anything about this apple I bought a semi dwarf tree anyway.

The tiny 4 feet tall tree made 49 apples. They started getting ripe 3 weeks ago. I just ate the last apple a few minutes ago. These are actually pretty good yellow apples. I still don't know anything about these apples, wonder if they make good in pies or cobbler.

Is anyone growing Anna Apples?

Hi Gary.
Anna is a Israel bred apple. Bred in the early 50's to grow in the low cold chill hours that most varieties would not be able to take.
it's an early apple....dual purpose. Bred from Golden Delicious and C.O.P.

It is the most popular variety down here. It grows very well here even along the coast. Another very good low chill apple is Beverly Hills.
