I got a apple tree for hubby all of 30 years ago
now I would like to add a 2rd (we had 2rd but lost it) so I need to know what kind to plant to go with the one left
It would of been a crisp kind & it is very late=like after frost makes nice slices for canning pie apples with no sugar added (I also use under sponge cake (Jim can't have the sugar)
Then also I would like a soft apple for myself
thanks,

The important thing about that second apple tree is that it blooms about the same time. If The remaining one is a late blooming variety than just make sure the other one you buy also is. Contact you extention to see what kinds of apples are recommended in your area and then pick one of those that is late blooming and that you would like to eat (as long as you can find the tree to plant that is). Personally I would pick 3 or 4 apples that I could live with and then see which is available in the size tree you want to plant.
