Can a Rose Apple grow in California?

I was stumbling around killing time when I found this list of exotic must try fruits.... I am in LOVE with this tree... can it be grown in California? I live in a zone 9-10. Is it even legal and HOW do I get my hands on some seeds?

I'm so freaking excited about this fruit.
Words of wisdom from the women of my family:

"I poured my dish water out the pan over my plants and never once in all my 96 years have I wasted money on "BUG SPRAY"!'

"Aww honey all you gotta do is love something to make it grow."

I had never heard of it, but I looked it up. Looks very cool. It's a tropical fruit, probably should grow in Calif. One place I found said hardy in zone 11, but a different site said tolerates temps down to 25.

However, one site says grows to 20' tall, one said grows to 40' tall, one said grows to 60' tall! And very wide. So I hope you have plenty of room for it!
