Braeburn Apple and Conferance pear trees

Has anyone grown these on an arch before .

I have just bought young trees and would liek to have a challenge an this method.

Hi SkotKat.

Re your arch.
The pear would do fine on an arch for you but I think you may have a bit of a battle with the Braeburn.
Dispite the Scotish sounding name it is in fact a warm climate apple.
It is being grown in the UK quite a bit now but up north as far as you are you may have problems unless the summer is a very good one. The tree will grow ok but the fruit may have problems colouring and ripening well. Even down here in the south picking can go into late Oct.
You will have to summer prune them both to try to encourage good spur growth although the pear should not be so much trouble as the apple.
Good luck...it is very rewarding to do and looks super.
