Grape Vine Assistance

I have recently moved and our new house has 2 huge grape vines. 1 is green and the other is red. I have never cared for grapes before and would like some advise. We just had a huge bout with caterpillars and from what I can tell they are going away. Any advise is appreciated :)

In the late winter (well before winter) look up a "kniflin" trellis. I expect you are going to chop an impossible amount of old wood.

You need to leave a single upright stick to grow new branches out on.

I don't see an old trellis, expect you will need to repair replace old trellis.

An uber hard chop will cut out enough "buds" so that your stick may not fruit in 2014. Don't worry it will in 2015.

In order of importance, you'll need:

Full sun
Adaquate water
Trellis
Low N mulch for fertilizer and water conservation.

Ok so The past 2 weeks have been very rainy. My grape vines are thriving like crazy!! You would have never known that caterpillars had their way with my vines. I am attaching new pics of the vines.
I will need to prune them soon. I'm so excited they came back so well. :D
