New Bed

Hey folks,

How does this look for my new bed? Still needs a lot of mixing.

4’x8'
32 cubic feet of space
Image
5 parts compost (city)
4 parts native soil
1 part coconut coir
4 lbs of Azomite
3 lbs of DTE vegan mix
3 lbs of DTE alfalfa meal

This is for Tomatoes!

Looks good! When you plant, cut an X in the cardboard, stab the subsoil with hand fork or a rebar twirled in the hole to get some of that good mix blended in (I would add a handful or 1/2 cup of Tomato-Tone as well) and drop the tomato rootball all the way down as far as you can. Water in well, then pull up the soil mix around the stem to bury and firm in the plant.

Hmmm. I'm a bit concerned that the cardboard looks dry -- you should have thoroughly watered that before putting the soil mix in....

You're right, I did not water the cardboard. Hopefully I can give it a good soak. I need to mix the soil more, so I can push the soil in a mound and get the cardboard good soak.

As for Tomato-Tone, I wont use any fertilizers made from animal (I am vegan). But, I can add another cup of Vegan Mix with each plant.
