Got my first hive assembled and ready for the season

Cedar Warre hive. I pre-ordered a package of bees from a local supplier over a month ago so I'm pretty much good to go. I'm very excited!

I'm curious for those of you with cedar hives, do you paint or treat anyway to extend the life of the hive? I know cedar lasts a long time but I was thinking about treating the roof with tung oil anyway, or painting it.

We have langstroth hives made of pine we do paint our boxes on the outside but prefer metal roofs because we have a humid climate and wood rots.

Its a nice hive.
