I was never sure pepper seedlings grew roots along the stem like tomatoes do -/ certainly never as readily, and sometimes they died if buried too deep.
But here’s proof that they do. This is Yellow Cap pepper seedlings

I think if the seedlings are very young, adventitious roots can grow but after a certain age, it would just rot if you plant the stem too deep.
