To overwinter or let it grow through the winter?

Have an indoor scorpion pepper plant in its 1st year. It started fruiting around October, so earliest harvest would be in December. Temp indoors is around 60 to 70 F in the winter.

Should I trim and overwinter (basically write off the 1st growing season) or let it grow through the winter?

I hear scorpion pepper plants produce throughout the year in its native Trinidad. But my Illinois home is far from tropical. My main concern is to have a viable plant for season #2.

I would let it finish maturing the current fruits. It will set more fruits if you put it where it will get as much sun as possible plus hang a fluorescent daylight tubes over it. Help it pollinate blossoms to set fruits with an electric toothbrush.

When the flush is done or it slows down around winter solstice, and as fruits are harvested, you can begin to prune and shape for good branch structure.
