having zero tolerance for hot (I can't even handle a pepperocini!), I have ***no*** idea what variety these peppers are. a friend gave them to me to include in my homemade salsa (husband's batch, not mine!), and I'd like to know what I'm adding if hubs/guests ask. thanks!

Looks like banana peppers to me. There are both mild and hot varieties

It could also be Feherozon sweet pepper, which is a Hungarian pepper variety. But I think there are ones that are same color and shape that are hot also. Peppers can cross easily so mix ups can happen, too.

When in doubt, cut a sliver from the bottom/blossom end and taste. That would be the sweetest/mildest portion.

Looks like the Santa Fe pepper I grew this season, as they are shorter and fatter than most banana peppers I have grown. There was also a Hungarian Wax variety I grew years ago, that was shorter and fatter like that.
