Weird Tomato

Growing tomatoes for the first time this year and I have 1 Bush at approx 5ft high that has only 2 tomatoes on it.. The rest are producing loads.. I decided to cut this guy off as I suspect he's sucking the life from the rest of the plant.

Have u ever seen a tomato like this? Its about 3.5 inches in diameter..

Yup, it's the variety: Zapotek pleated tomatoes:

They make very odd looking slices:

They are reputed to be "prolific" and "heavy bearers" so yours must not be liking its conditions. They don't grow well in containers and need full sun.

Could it be a Great White Beefsteak??

Not sure why you would suggest that, since the Great White Beefsteak is not a pleated tomato, that I could tell anyway:

dougie's tomato was looking kind of pale green, but I don't know what color it would ripen up to.

Maybe Dougie will come back and tell us where he got his seeds/ plant. It seems to be very rare.

Tatiana's tomatobase which is the be all and end all of tomato information doesn't list anyone currently selling it.

J&L Gardens Seed which was listed as having it a couple years ago, doesn't seem to. But it has a similar red pleated (but not quite as heavily pleated) tomato called Marilyn's Best.

Bummer that the OP never came back to tell us what the ripe fruits look like. I was going to post this but he hasn't come back and I totally forgot about this thread

Are you saying a double is a rare occurrence? I can't remember now.

Is it like these?
