Can I move a sunflower?

Hi guys, I'm wondering if I can move a sunflower to a new location. It's about 14 inches tall at the moment, and I'd like to move it about 4 feet to the right in the same garden, because it's currently growing under a shrub. Will it survive the move?

If I can move it, any advice about the transplant would be much appreciated. I'm specifically curious about how wide I should dig, and whether it's better to dig when the soil is wet or dry.

Thanks in advance, hope all's swell!

Should be able to move it without killing it but it will set it back a bit. It may not make the world record :D :D Well this year at least.

The standard process would be:
Dig a hole at the new location, say 15-18ins across.
Water the sunflower and let the water soak in for a while.
Dig out the sunflower with as much earth around it as you can.
Move to new location.
Fill in any gaps and firm in the sunflower.
Then water the sunflower again in the new location.

Would be helpful to have some compost mixed in at the new location.
Would expect the sunflower to wilt a bit for a few days and then to pick up.

Now the disclaimer  : I could be utterly wrong and it will end up in the great compost heap in the sky.

As I write this the more I think this is what I would do but do I really want to tell someone else to do it?
