planted poinsettia plants oudoors in florida

I have planted my pointsettia plants oudoors here in Vero beach fl for the past few years., and have a wonderful bush that seems to be thriving. However, it is getting leggy, and I wonder how I should (or shouldn't ) prune it to make it fuller. I am a novice at this gardening thing, and appreciate any advice as to how to keep my bush looking good. there are about 4 different plants that were planted originally.

thanks. rita

You should probably prune your Poinsettias every once in a while to keep them a nice size.
I believe all you need to do is:
Cut out some branches or pinch the new growth.

I read if you prune the entire branches, larger flowers will grow.
I hope this helps and good luck!

I read this years ago in a regional newspaper and it has served me well thru the years....

Prune your poinsettias 3 times a year: April; June; Aug. Each time you prune them cut the front of the plant lowest and the back highest. That way, when the bracts turn red (the true blooms are tiny inconspicuous flowers at the center of the bracts) you'll have a wall of color from bottom to top.
