Adding this plant to my list of favorites

I've seen bowles mauve for years, but today I found a beautiful yellow version (Erysimum). I love it! I picked up 3 of them because I was looking for a bright, sunny yellow to break up all my purple in the front yard. It's so cute and smells wonderful.

I did a lot of cleaning out of flower beds in the front yard today; weeded, planted a bunch of columbine (something "giant"), a red dragonwings begonia, cosmos, and the erysimum, and planted nasturtium seeds. Then I spread redwood mulch all around and potted up a trailing fuschia and hung it from a tree. I watered it all in, and the whole yard looks great.

I also found a great deal on tropicana, picked up some hollyhocks and coreopsis "early sunrise" for the back garden. Tomorrow is my day off, so I'm looking forward to getting out in the dirt again. The garden bug has really bitten me again this year. My compost is rich, black and beautiful, and I'm treating everything to a healthy dose.

Thank God for gardens!
