I have 2 nice healthy looking Gardenias. They are transplants. I put each in a big pot, placed in partial sun. I water them daily. They are both loaded with buds, but usually only get 1 flower at a time per plant. The remainder of the buds end up falling off and then they grow new buds. The cycle repeats
What am I doing wrong?

What are you fertilizing them with? Gardenias need an acidic fertilizer with micros. They can be heavy to moderate feeders especially when they are growing and blooming.
Most common problems for bud drop
1. Improper watering. Gardenia does like evenly moist soil but it needs to be well drained.
2. Light. Partial sun is o.k. but morning sun is better. Six hours is ideal. They need good light.
3. Temperature. Gardenia is a tropical plant and likes temperatures in the 60-85 range. They prefer warm days but cool nights in the 60's or they get more bud drop.
