Garden Guru, I need your wisdom....

Howdy,

Just planted some Four O'Clock seeds. The packet said to plant them 1/2 inch deep. I planted them more like 1 inch. Are they doomed? Should I replant?

Thank you O' Wise One...
Bart

give them a chance. They may make it. But let us know where you are located and what your weather is like now. Where I am, we have killer heat for as long as the extended forecast goes. That is not the weather for planting anything.

It may take longer but if you have deep moisture without being soggy they may still come up. I usually just fluff up the soil and put the seeds on top. I keep four o'clocks for beetle control in a pot. They make tubers and drop seeds all the time so I have to rougue out the ones that escape.

Most seeds need light to geminate and I would rather go shallow than deep.

I'm a few miles from Charlottesville VA. And today will be mid 80s.....

The ground where they were planted is fluffy. I added a large bag of potting mix when I tilled the soil. I'll be sure to keep it moist.
