Hi everyone,
New member here; this is my first post. Nice to meet you all.
I came here in hopes of finding some advice on geranium care. I have a red flowering North American geranium plant that I received as a gift from a friend back in May of this year, and it appears to be dying. One bunch of branches turned brown about a week ago and dried up. I can tell that overall, the plant's density of leaves has drastically reduced; it used to be much fuller and healthier looking. I've been watering it regularly and trying to keep the soil moist, and just pinching off parts that have browned and died...
I did a bit of research on the plant but couldn't really find any information on cultivation per se... so hopefully you guys can help.
I suppose my question is, do these plants just die off a bit with the approach of winter, or has it lived as long as it should, or... am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for your help,
Laurilye

There are quite a few Geraniums native to North America, some are annuals and some are perennials. Did this plant come from a nursery or was it wild collected? Geranium maculatum is the species probably most commonly available in the trade but it doesn't bloom red. Can you supply photos of the leaves and flowers?
