Poinsetta

One of my neighbors gave me a small Poinsetta, going to try to see how long I can keep it alive.URL=https://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/818/1003037v.jpg/]Image[/URL]

I've kept them alive until summer, but always have trouble trying to transition it to outdoors. But they thrive on indirect light and benign neglect -- let it dry out pretty thoroughly between waterings.

My paperwhites are so tall I can't get it all in the picture and you can see the white of the buds without a microscope. I think I might have to tie something around them so they don't flop over.

Hi ElizabethD and welcome to the Forum. How possible a poinsettia garden is depends on where in the world your garden is and what your climate is like. Where are you located?

Paperwhite, any update on how your poinsettia is doing? It's more than a month now from when you posted that picture.

It is still doing good, it seems to like where I have it, it gets indirect light and it is a little cool. It has shed some leaves but it is growing another! I never thought I could keep it alive this long!

Be sure to read this article on poinsettia care here at The Helpful Gardener. There are several in-depth articles available; click on "Gardening" at the top of the forum pages to find them. :)
