How to pronounce "Gerbera" Dasiy

Hello.

I was wondering if you clever gardeners might be able to help me.

How do you pronounce "Gerbera" Daisy.

Is it "ger" as in "Gherkin"
or is "ger" as in "germ"

Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't swear I'm right, but I have always heard it with the hard G, accent on the second syllable, so

Gur -BEAR- ah

it will speak it for you.

It says hard G GER- ber - ah

I don't know if there are different acceptable pronunciations or the people I heard say it are just wrong.

Pronounce it as you would Gerber's baby food - the plant is named for a botanist named Gerber.

So, GER-ber-ah.
