Carrying for Sunflowers and Black Eyed Susans

So mom has decided it is alright for me to make some changes in the garden. We're going to plant mostly Black Eyed Susans, but to appease me we will have a Sunflower as well.

Neither of us knows much about the care of either. I've heard mixed reviews on the care of sunflowers. Is it worth it?

Can both plants deal with medium light to high light? It varies during the day, but we don't get a whole lot of high light where our house is situated.

Thanks!

Sunflowers benefit most from full sun, but you can get away with 5-6 hours of sun a day instead. I love them, they grow so quickly it's facinating, and I don;t think I could ever be happy with just one sunflower!

Black-eyed susans are pretty tough and can handle a lot of abuse. Don't start them from seed, they take two years to put out any flowers! I was so disappointed when I found that out, this year marks my second year so I had BETTER have flowers this year. heehee.

May I suggest adding some coneflowers as well? Echinacea purpura - lately there are more and more strains coming out, and they are so attractive. They'd add some other color to your yellow plants.
