edging to keep weeds out?

I'm trying to find the best way to keep grass out of my flower beds. I've tried trenching & the grass just sends it's shoots over that. I've tried the plastic edging & it comes up around the curves. Probably due to freezing & thawing. I have 6 fairly large beds & would love to figure out something that would work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi.

I use brick edgers around all of my flower beds. Works a treat as you can mow right over the top of them as long as you set them nice and level. Takes a bit of time but worth it. Only the odd seeded bit of grass gets in now.

I'll give the bricks a try. I've got some salvaged from a remodel of our house. It may take a while to collect enough, but everything is a process in the garden! Thanks for your time!

You are very welcome and handy tip; buy some bags of grit sand to set them in. Will help with levelling the base and if you cut the turf back slightly add the grit sand between lawn and paver and the grass will grow more sparingly that side because it dries out so fast!

When you dig the trench are you digging back into the area where the grass is? That should be done at an angle. Take a look here and scroll down to 'Dropped lawn edge'.

The only other edging that I can think of that might work would be concrete curbs. Sorry about th e music at this forst site.
