I am thinking of growing the Silver Lace Vine (Polygonum auberti) aka Silver Fleece Vine this year in Zone 5. Is anyone growing this vine. I would appreciate some information from some-one who is growing this vine at the present time.

I have both, but was onsidering something different to replace Morning Glory as a fast growing annual. Clematis and Honeysudckle are too slow for my proposed purpose. Cobaea Scandens are also too slow and sometimes unreliable as to growth. So it appears I am stuck with morning glory, whih if fine, but I wanted a change if possible,Newt wrote:You are very welcome! Durgan, how about Hyacinth bean - Dolichos lablab? They grow fast and bloom around the same time as the morning glories.

Scarlet runner bean - Phaseolus coccineus is a large vine and the flowers and beans are edible. The red flowers attract hummers.

Dutchman's pipe - Aristolochia durior is perennial in your zone and is grown mostly for it's large heart-shaped leaves, but once estqblished it can be vigorous. It's the larval food of the pipe vine swallowtail butterfly. Not sure if you have that butterfly there but a google search should tell you. It has an interesting flower too.
