Flowers/grasses near a pool

Hi, I want to do a raised flower bed near the pool but I have concerns about bees becoming a problem with lots of little children running around.. Any ideas or suggestions? It would likely be a bed about 12 ft long.

Thank you for the great tips. Since it is a town pool I doubt I'll have much luck with the kids but we can try.

Hi Ru,
we've had a pool for 20+ years and I have planted all sorts of flowers in the raised beds and planters around them and all colors...geranium, impatiens, marigold, snaps, dahlias, cleome, zinnias, allysum, lobelia, begonias, salvia to name just a few. The last 4 years I've had lavender in one bed. Bees have not been a problem for swimmers, even though they show up.
Also, we live on a rural area.
The biggest pest is on the heat of aug. when horseflies show up some years.
That and mosquitos at night!
