New Garden - Needs Ideas ^.^(Small Garden)

Hello everyone :D

I moved into my apartment in July 2006 and was told I have a small area of garden at the back. It's not too small it's directly under my kitchen window and at the moment it's kinda neglected.... Now the apartments all decorated I decided with my partner to do it up abit, We also have a fron Garden about 15-16 Inchs width that goes from my bedroom all the way to my living room window that I wanna sort out too.
I have started growing some plants already so far we have planted and growin

- Salvia(Blaze Of Fire)
- Antirrhinum(Monarch Mixed)
- Petunia(Bedding Mixed)
- Lobelia(Crystal Palace)

Now me and my partner and lookin for seeds that we can grow indoors in Januray - Febuary,
We have all our plants in door at moment because of the cold but it's warning up outside so we are gonna grow them to a decent size then move them out.
Also as for outside planning so far we have decided on some blue slate bits to maybe put around edges or have them near wall to make it blend.
Theres a bush/tree type thing out in back garden at moment so might keep it might move it will get some pictures of it tommrow as I don't know what it is.

Anyway any advice would be great.
Thanks

Hi Hotaru,

Welcome to The Helpful Gardener!

It sounds like the plants you are growing from seed are all annuals. The seed packets should tell you when you can start them indoors. Here's a handy gardeners almanac for the UK that should be helpful.

As far as a list of plants, consider the sun conditions you have as to what you can plant. Full sun is 6 hours or more, part sun is 4 to 6 hours, part shade is 2 to 4 hours of sun and shade is 2 hours or less. This site is in the US, but has a long list of annual plants for you to look through. You can even look for plants by color.

If you post a link to the photos of your tree/shrub we can try and id it for you.

Btw, my favorite annual is the Lobelia 'Crystal Palace'. Everyone who comes to the garden wants to know what it is. I love it spilling out into a path or over the edge of a wall.

Hiya
I'd say 4-6 hours its back of the buildin where the sun shines the most so maybe even full sun.
I love Crystal Palace there pretty.
It's just finding plants I can grow in Jan-Feb but websites don't seem to have a section ya can pick a month and see what plants ya can start then
I have started all my plants indoor so far to give them a good start.
Know any websites I can set the month I wanna start in?

I thought the first site I gave you was about close to choosing a month to see what you can seed and do. Here's a couple of others you can look around that are specific to the UK.
