Tulips and warm winter

It is the middle of January and the temperatures have been in the 60's during the day and the 30's at night. I know tulip and daffodils are supposed to be planted in the fall and they need to cold. But this weather has my bulbs already sprouting. Is this okay? Should I be concerned about the lack of cold weather during the day?

Hi Veronica,

That is happening all over the east as the temps have been so warm. As long as the bulbs don't bloom or set flower buds they will be ok. If they do bloom you won't have any flowers this spring for those, but they should bloom fine the following spring.

How did your weeping cherry tree do? Did it ever recover?

Newt,

Thanks for your help.
Thus far nothing happened with the tree. But I cant bring myself to dig it up. I just want to see what happens this Spring. And the birds kind of use it as a hang out perch.

I can't believe you remembered the tree :D

Have a good week.

Veronica

Veronica, you are very welcome! I have a soft spot for weeping trees. :)
