We live in a farmhouse and like so many in this area, the front lawn slopes to the road. In the spring it is coverd with daffodils, but the rest of the year it is not so lovely. Mowing was difficult due to its steepness, ground cover like crown vetch is oky, but is spotty and still lets large thistles through. Any suggestions that are attractive and easy to maintain? thanks.

If crown vetch doesn't do it I doubt you will have much luck because whatever you plant crown vetch will eventually smoother out. In some larger areas without vetch try some junipers the low growing fast kind not Bar Harbor. One I use, it's on the tip of my tongue but cannot spit it out, is sold at Home Depot.

Is it full sun? Definitely put in ground cover, don't mow.

Creeping phlox is a nice one for a full sun location - forms a dense carpet, semi-evergreen and gets covered in little flowers in the spring.

There's a house near me that has a south facing slope covered in it and it is gorgeous in spring and nice the rest of the time. Your daffodils will still come through it.
