I am not known for my green thumb, but I am trying to grow some flowers that my grand children gave me. My question is: How do I stop my mums from blooming in the summer? I tried cutting them back and picking off the blooms. They just keep trying to bloom. I live in Southern california and it gets really hot here in the summer.

Not known for my green thumb.

If I can remember correctly you shear back mums until July, here in NC so it might be later in CA. Shear back just like you are cutting a hedge. You should prpobably plant them neaby because it's hard to remember to trim them back if they are scattered.
