Maine Gardening Advice Needed

Hi ..I am new to this site and am glad I found it. I currently live in Maine and have only been here a couple years and am finally designing my garden beds. I am having mixed advice as to when I can start planting flowers. I am interested in planint roses, petunias, foxglove, bleeding hearts and some herbs at this time which would be lavender, basil, and apple mint. I have a few others but can't remember what I have purchased yesterday. Please help with the when can I start planting??

Well, after the final frost has come and gone. Start a planting. It's not hard. If you are still recieving frost there are some other things that you can do in the meantime.

Work some compost and well rotted manure into your garden.

Get your compost pile or system started. (Scrounge around for leaves (if you find some go over them with the lawnmower and pile them up next to the compost pile)

Cut out your beds if you are still at that stage.

Anything else you can think of. :)
