Ageratums wilting

:o I have a mixed array of plants in a long border in my garden i.e. lavender, a bottle brush bush, fuschias, dhalias, marigolds, begonias and busy lizzies. However, I planted some ageratums yesterday and they are starting to wilt. I watered them after planting yesterday (mid afternoon) and we have had heavy showers here in Kent this afternoon.

They have lasted until the frosts in previous years and this is the second lot I have planted after the first lot died during the hot spell we had earlier this summer.

Please help!! Could it be root rot?? :?

Not so soon after planting. I'd water in the evening. Normally plant in the evening so plants are not hit with the burst of sunshine.
