narrow v shaped garden

I have a new garden to plant but I share it with my neighbour. It is about 20feet long but only 8 inches wide at the narrow end, 4 feet wide at the widest point near the houses.

the neighbour wants to put stones in it, with very few plants.

I'm ok with that, but was wondering if anyone had any pictures to use as ideas?

One side of the garden is white concrete sidewalk, the other is sand coloured concrete sidewalk, and the houses are both red brick.

Groundcover might work like soapwort, pink flowers, because the area seems too narrow to plant a mix of plants and the easiest on the eye is the simplest.

Any of the "Steppables" that most Garden Centers seem to carry now would work. Soapwort is one of them, though I was going to say Mother of Thyme/Creeping Thyme. Same idea.

I have an area between the driveway and the front porch that I'm trying to convert to all thyme. Drought tolerant, doesn't mind being stepped on/mowed, wonderful scent when you do, and dainty pink flowers that honeybees just seem to LOVE.

Creeping thyme would be my personal choice. But then, I like growing plants. :)
